A good base but problems

This is my second decathlon bike. The first one (Riverside 7) was always extremely satisfying. This is unfortunately not the case with this one. The rim tapes were already missing, which were added by Decathlon after multiple punctures. Not great customer experience from the start. There were also missing screws which were added afterwards. But now more serious, I just broke my cassette body without any shock in the middle of a week-long cycling trip in Brittany with a friend. On the road. All one day after the end of the warranty year. I had to cancel the trip altogether due to a lack of parts available at Decathlon. The very big hassle... In short, I am very disappointed with Decathlon and for the moment have absolutely no confidence in this bike. It's a shame because it's very pretty and quite pleasant to drive. Pretty well equipped for the price. But clearly having to pay for a rear wheel again doesn't satisfy me at all. For the first time, I am disappointed by Decathlon and I am not sure I will buy a bike from this brand in the future.

Great gravel bike with top price-performance ratio

I was looking for an inexpensive gravel bike and found it at Dekatlon. I'm still really happy with it after a few weeks and can really recommend it.

Bike purchased 3 years ago

I had time to discover it, its good and bad sides. Overall it's a very good bike, one that I had fun with and still have fun with. It holds up, efficient and fast, I like it a lot. However, I had bad experiences: First, the Decathlon salespeople advised me to switch it to "Tubeless" since it is "Tubeless ready" = huge mistake. Never switch your bike to tubeless, it costs an arm and a leg (around 50 euros) and the fluid (which you will have to replace very often, because it dries and deflates the wheel) costs around 15 euros, it's a trick to pump yourself up your money. Nothing beats a good old two-euro inner tube that can even be sealed with a specially designed dressing. The second problem is the saddle, it quickly hurts the buttocks if the outing lasts more than an hour, bring a padded saddle on occasion. Apart from the inconvenience caused by the wheels which I find to be of poor quality and the saddle which is uncomfortable in the long run, the bike is overall very good, all the parts can be changed, nothing is sealed, which is quite cool. I note the price increase for this bike that I bought for 1000 euros, we will explain it by "inflation", even if the increase is enormous.

This my first bike…

This my first decathlon bike, I must say that I am satisfied so far. For the moment it's just velotaff.

Great value for money

Very good bike to start gravel/cyclotouring. Probably one of the best value for money possible. The brakes are a little finicky at times. The wheels are worth changing if you want more performance!

Mixed review

Moderately satisfied with the GVRL520 subcompact. I bought it following the end of road and triathlon competitions and the resale of my bikes to continue riding long distance pleasure outings + cycling trips. Pleasantly surprised by the behavior of the bike and disappointed by certain peripherals. 4000km done including a 4 day bikepacking trip (720km) without worries. (loaded with saddle bags, handlebars, top tube, and fork + my 85kg) I changed the wheels for Mavic Crossmax SL, put a longer stem and carbon seat post with more setback (parts already in my possession) Big negative points of this bike, the very low-end wheels and QR axle, which strongly limits the choice during an upgrade (or with conversion kits hard to find), and the brakes which are not up to par with the rest of the bike. The 105 transmission works very well but the 48/32 crankset is a little big for Gravel/travel use. The bike would be perfect with a fork for thru-axle wheels, a grx 400 type hydraulic group and its more suitable 46/30 crankset.

Good product

Good bike! Braking is a limit in certain places.

After 1 year

After 1 year of use, the bike already has many repairs under its belt. Now the rear rim is starting to crack in several places. It starts to do a lot in a short time.

Super Bike

Excellent bike.

Good mid-range gravel

Good bike, well equipped and light. The brakes would have deserved to be full hydraulic. Everything else in nickel. great value for money

great

very good bike to start gravel riding with complete peace of mind. we could regret the absence of real hydraulic disc brakes but at this price you shouldn't ask too much. I highly recommend.

Excellent value

This bike is not perfect but for the price it's hard to do better. The bike is comfortable whether on the road or on small paths. The peripherals offered are of surprising quality for this price range (shimano 105, TRP hydro-mechanical disc brakes, Hutchinson Touareg tires). There are, however, a few small drawbacks: - The wheels are heavy (2kg per pair) - The QR axles restrict the choice of wheels (most new gravel wheels are thru axle) - The minimum length proposed for the cranks is 170mm (which is ok for most people). If like me you need smaller cranks, you'll have to buy them elsewhere (and it's not cheap). - The cables at the front can hinder the installation of the panniers on the handlebars. Even with these negative points, this bike maintains excellent value for money.

Very good Gravel

Bike purchased in February 2024, After riding mainly on road and forest path I can give my opinion on this bike. Good value for money, the group is perfect for slightly involved Gravel riding. It's perfect for 100km hikes and can easily be bikepacked with the Riverside range.
